Grid Quiz tips: clear the daily CS2 3×3 faster
Grid Quiz is a daily 3×3: every cell sits at the intersection of a row clue and a column clue. You name Major playoff players who fit both until all nine cells are complete. These tips help you choose where to start and how to finish yellow cells without thrashing.
How a cell is defined
Clues mix real CS2 categories: teams, countries, continents, roles, tournaments, Major winners, finalists, MVPs, and “played with” style links. A valid answer must satisfy the row and the column at the same time - matching only one side never fills the box.
Only solvable grids are generated from the Win a Major database. If a cell feels empty, the answer is usually a less famous playoff name, not proof that the puzzle is broken.
Start with the rarest intersection
Scan all nine clue pairs before your first search. A unique org plus MVP, or a narrow role plus a small region, collapses the candidate list faster than two broad filters like “Europe” and “Entry.”
Clearing a hard corner early also gives you mental anchors: once you know who fits that org or that MVP lane, neighboring cells that share a clue become easier to reason about.
Finish yellow cells before hopping around
Many cells need more than one player. Progress shows as counts like 2/5: yellow means partially filled, green means complete and locked. When a cell turns yellow, stay there and name the remaining players before jumping to a blank corner.
Partial progress is information. If three of five are in, ask which Major playoff names still share both clues - often teammates, role partners, or other finalists from the same event.
Stay inside the Major playoff pool
Only players who appeared at least once in any Major playoff stage count. A star who never reached playoffs will not fill a cell even if nationality and role look perfect on paper.
That rule is why Grid Quiz pairs so well with the simulator and Career Path: you build memory for who actually showed up in Champions-stage lineups, not just who trended on socials.
Use the calendar and cross-modes
Missed a day or want another rep? Pick an older date under the board and replay that grid. Forfeiting saves the day as unfinished and shows a summary - useful when you are stuck, then come back tomorrow fresh.
When intersections involving teammates or org history feel slow, spend a session in Career Path. When role and era filters feel slow, Guess the Player trains the same muscles. Grid Quiz is where those skills meet on one board.
